Tara and Tash are friends who created Essential Sadmin after losing their mothers and not wanting others to have to face the confusing bureaucracy and numerous websites they had to.
Tash is a teacher and the founder and CEO of tutoring business Teatime Tutors and Tara is a journalist writing about media, mostly for The Guardian.
Having been appointed executor when her mother died in 2016, Tash had to learn very quickly about how to deal with both her mother’s death and what steps needed to be taken; it was overwhelming for her, and difficult to disseminate all the information given to her at the time. Although there was a lot of info available, it was all on different websites and often not presented in a friendly or easy-to-read way.
So she and Tara started talking about designing a user-friendly, one-stop-shop for all of the required admin and the idea of Essential Sadmin was created.
Sadly, Tara’s mother passed in 2022. Her father did most of the sadmin, but Tara helped to organise the funeral. At the same time, in order to help a friend whose mother was dying avoid some of the bureaucracy and delays she had encountered, she began writing down what the next steps would be, which formed the basis of Essential Sadmin and its checklist.
