ORDER OF SERVICE

TO DO:

-Look at other order of service examples
-Think about music/hymns/readings/eulogy

It is totally up to you and what kind of service you’re having, but many funerals or ceremonies have an order of service sheet or booklet printed so that attendees know what is happening.

It can contain as much or as little as you want but it often features photos, readings, hymns, pall-bearer details (if you’re having friends/family carry the coffin in and out) and info about what people should do for any reception/donations.

Your funeral director will give you guidance (and you can make and design your own online on websites such as Canva if you want) but a couple of examples of order of services are below to give you an idea and help you plan.

There is lots of advice about hymns and readings online too, here are a few options:

BBC Songs of Praise

Classic FM

Readings suggested by the Catholic Church

Humanist funeral poems

English poet funeral poems

Other funeral poems and readings

We’ve included a couple of examples of Orders of Service for you to see below.
