New website Essential Sadmin launched to guide people what to do after someone dies that simplifies the sad admin, aka ‘sadmin’ 

 

A new online guide has been launched to help the 680,000* people a year in the UK who struggle with knowing what to do after someone dies and how to deal with all of the accompanying ‘sadmin’ paperwork.

Essential Sadmin is the website nobody wants but everyone needs. 

 

Many people have no idea what to do after the loss of a loved one. So, just as they are reeling from the shock of a death, they have to navigate numerous websites, confusing bureaucracy and exhausting paperwork.

 

The average person has at least 20 online accounts (eg bank, utilities, council tax, insurance, social media etc) and dealings with many organisations (eg doctors, vets) that their surviving relatives/friends have to deal with.

 

Essential Sadmin has been created to bring all the practical information and websites needed together in one place and provide a simple ‘one-stop shop’ to save the bereaved time and money, so they can concentrate on grieving. It includes an easy-to-use checklist.

 

Media coverage shows how frustrating and upsetting dealing with sadmin can be, with articles in the Financial Times, Sunday Times and The Guardian.

 

Set up by old friends, journalist Tara Conlan Robinson and company founder Tash Rosin, following the loss of their mothers, Essential Sadmin is the first UK independent, free website guide for dealing with sadmin.

 

Tara and Tash said: “Although there was a lot of info available, it was all on different websites and often not presented in a particularly friendly or easy-to-read way; sometimes it was too clinical or sometimes too schmaltzy. Faced with the overwhelming task of handling what needed to be done in the aftermath, we began writing down each step we had to take. 

 

“As time passed, we realised how valuable this information could be for others going through the same horrible experience. So we gathered all of our notes and helpful tips into one easy-to-read and user-friendly website and Essential Sadmin was born.”

 

They added: “So much is online these days that the average person has numerous accounts, with multiple companies - therefore it can be overwhelming dealing with all the financial and personal matters when you lose a loved one and there is conflicting advice out there.

 

“Essential Sadmin is a practical and compassionate resource designed to save time during one of life’s most overwhelming experiences, presented in a serene space with uplifting photos. We hope it helps ease the burden for those who have lost a family member or friend.”
